Highlight Your Achievements

You don’t have to be a straight-A student to get into an Ivy League school, but you need good grades (at least a B+ average or higher). Ensure your extracurricular activities, community service, and volunteer work are listed in your essay. Being actively involved in clubs and organizations shows that you’re committed to something other than video games and pizza parties. Have a GPA above 3.5? Highlight your perfect SAT/ACT score too. It doesn’t hurt to include any scholarships you may have won either. Just keep it short and interesting. Let us know how well-rounded your academic career has been, and let us see what it is about YOU that can make us want to admit YOU instead of 1000 others with similar numbers.

Make Sure To Show Leadership

Leadership isn’t just about standing up and giving orders; it’s also about empowering others to take responsibility. When you’re a leader, you will have to make choices – sometimes tough ones. Make sure you articulate your actions to show the leadership quality which the admissions officers are looking for. It helps if they can see how your actions positively impacted people around you, too.

Tip: don’t forget to weave some of your best anecdotes into your essay. And remember, be specific!

Don’t Give Up After Rejection.

If you’re rejected by one college, don’t consider it a personal failure. College admissions committees receive thousands of applications each year, so your story will only be read if it’s worth reading. If you get turned down, do some soul-searching on yourself and think of your unique feature which should be in your essay, then reapply to other schools later—you have time. Give yourself a break, talk with an essay writer, stay motivated, and try again!

Use inspiring quotes

Inspiring quotes can give your essay some life. Here are some of our favorites quotes to kick-start your creativity and make your essay shine: “You were born with wings; why prefer to crawl through life?” “All human beings should try to learn before they die what they are running from, and to, and why.” Use more active voices; they are stronger than passive voices. When writing, always ask yourself whether you could make your sentence more interesting or engaging by using action verbs rather than using a form of “to be” such as is, am, or are. Use adjectives when writing because adjectives also indicate that a form “to be” is needed.

Have Fun While Writing the Essay

Essays shouldn’t be boring to write. Having fun with your essay will make it more enjoyable and probably make you seem less serious; keep that in mind when working on essays. Write one yourself, or contact an essay writer to do it if you have trouble writing a good essay. Also remember that your essay reflects who you are and what makes you unique as a person.
