Galaxy Z Flip 4 Leak gives familiar looking Foldable

 April 17, 2022

Just hours after people got the first glimpse at the potential innovation of Samsung’s Z Fold 4, unofficial renders of its more diminutive sibling — the Z Flip 4 — have also leaked online.

But while the next Fold might bring a redesigned camera bump, the Z Flip 4’s design glimpses almost equivalent to its predecessor.

It still has a two-tone color technique with a pair of cameras and a small notification display, while there’s still a 6.7-inch display with a hole-punch selfie cutout in the head middle.

That’s not necessarily a surprise, nor is it a bad thing. Samsung tracked up its first Z Flip with the almost-identical Z Flip 5G just months after, so it’s already confirmed it’s happy to revamp its foldable’s internals without modifying its external appearance. Moreover, since all were pretty engraved by last year’s Z Flip 3 (“the first folding phone for normal people”), a quick design overhaul doesn’t feel essential, even if we wouldn’t say no to a slightly larger external display.

If Samsung plans for its next Z Flip to be a spec bump, we hope that its specs get a decent boost. The rear cameras are most needed for improvement, which was 12-megapixel last time around, when Samsung’s reasonably priced flagship Galaxy S devices are getting 50-megapixel primary sensors and higher. Expect an official statement in August if Samsung follows the same schedule as last year.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4: Rumored specs

There’s not much to be expressed about the Galaxy Z Flip 4, but a rumor asserts that Samsung could keep the identical 6.7-inch internal and 1.9-inch external displays of the Galaxy Z Flip 3. That would define the Flip 3’s design is pretty good, and the external display is functional. However, Ross Young states that the Galaxy Z Flip 4 might sport a larger cover display, measuring at least two inches.

Samsung has tested a rendition of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 with an under-display camera. We sure hope that’s not final, considering the shoddy one in the Galaxy Z Fold 3. This leak claims that Samsung expects to lighten the Galaxy Z Flip 3 by adjusting the hinge design. Instead, we want to visit a gapless design like the one proposed by the Oppo Find N.

Some rumors have stated that the Galaxy Z Flip 4 could have the same 3,300 mAh battery as the Flip 3. However, a new leak says that Samsung plans to increase the total capacity by 400 mAh. That’s a good bump, but given how poor the battery life is on the current Z Flip, Samsung requires to do more to enhance the phone’s efficiency.

Samsung could shift to the rumored Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus chip to run the phone rather than the contemporary standard 8 Gen 1 found in mobiles like the Galaxy S22 series. That would provide it a nice performance gain compared to last year’s model, and many phones have been launched already this year.

Another resemblance with the older model could be a power button-mounted fingerprint sensor. Samsung has been functioning on an under-display fingerprint sensor for its foldable, but it’s determined the Z Flip 4 & Z Fold 4 are more suitable without that.

The phone might debut under a separate name later this year. In some European nations, the current model is now being sold as the Galaxy Flip 3, an apparent reaction to Russian officials appropriating the letter Z to support the Ukraine invasion. Samsung might sink the Z entirely for the following phone version, calling it the Galaxy Flip 4 instead.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 improved significantly over the original Galaxy Z Flip. But it was very distant from perfect. We think Samsung could stand to handle some of those glaring problems when it releases the Galaxy Z Flip 4.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 had plunging battery life. It didn’t last 6 hours in the adaptive refresh speed mode. That’s not good. People think that was partly due to the 120Hz internal displays and larger surface display, which drain more power.

For the Galaxy Z Flip 4, consumers want to notice better battery life. Again, straightforward, but that might be a tall order unless Samsung sets in larger power packs. The power efficiency boosts from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 aren’t likely to enhance things too much.

While Samsung made significant strides in enhancing the durability of the last round of its foldable, we’ve read the information that Galaxy Z Flip 3 units are cracking a few months into ownership. While we can’t confirm these reports with our own experience, it’s concerning to hear about phones not making it through their first year. Unfortunately, it’s another area where foldable has a long way to go.

The Galaxy Z Flip 4 would ideally notice continued advancements in durability and longevity. No one desires to spend $999 on a phone for it to break and/or become unusable within a year, let independently a few months.
